Amplifying Voices against Gender-Based Violence through Collaboration

A Collaborative Effort to Spotlight Gender Equality and End Gender-Based Violence

As part of the SPEAK Awareness-Raising Campaign under Project EQUAL, we collaborated with two distinguished NGOs—Women On Top and GenderSAFE—to create dynamic and impactful social media content addressing gender-based violence and promoting gender equality. Each collaboration resulted in a unique series of six carousel posts, spotlighting critical issues and inspiring our audience to take action.

The campaign culminated in an exclusive series of nine carousel posts featuring ANCE members, offering a fresh and distinct perspective to close the campaign on a meaningful note.

Collaboration with Women On Top: Elevating Workplace Equality

Women On Top, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women and advancing gender equality, contributed content from its “We Are With U” (WAWU) Guide, a comprehensive resource designed to challenge stereotypes and create inclusive workplaces.

The six carousel posts we created highlighted:

  • Gender Disparities in the Workplace: Addressed issues like unequal pay, limited representation of women in leadership, and the prevalence of stereotypes in male-dominated industries such as technology and innovation.

  • Tools for Advocacy and Action: Encouraged individuals to challenge workplace biases, advocate for equal pay, and demand transparent hiring and salary structures.

  • Building Inclusive Environments: Promoted policies like parental leave for all genders and emphasized the importance of allyship and mentorship to support underrepresented groups.

It was essential to let Women On Top’s expertise shine, offering practical advice and actionable insights for professionals, students, and employers alike.

Collaboration with GenderSAFE: Addressing GBV in Academia

Our collaboration with GenderSAFE was based on their work as an EU-funded initiative that tackles gender-based violence (GBV) within academic and research environments. The content of the posts was informed by the UniSAFE survey, which surveyed over 42,000 participants across 46 European higher education institutions.

The six carousel posts created with GenderSAFE focused on:

  • The Prevalence of GBV in Academia: Posts highlighted alarming statistics, such as the high rates of psychological violence and sexual harassment experienced by students and staff in academic settings.

  • Breaking the Silence: Content addressed the barriers preventing individuals from reporting GBV, emphasizing the importance of education, awareness, and support networks.

  • Institutional Responsibilities: Posts underscored the role of universities and research institutions in implementing zero-tolerance policies and fostering safe, inclusive environments through training and support mechanisms.

By incorporating GenderSAFE’s research-driven insights, our campaign aimed to spark conversations about systemic issues within academia and inspire institutions to take meaningful action.

ANCE Interview Series: A Distinctive Perspective

To close the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, we interviewed members of ANCE, who shared their thoughts on gender equality, violence prevention, and societal change. This collaboration resulted in nine distinctive carousel posts that stood out visually and thematically within the campaign.

  • Distinctive Approach:

    • Chromatic Palette: Inspired by the project identity, these posts featured a vibrant yet unique color scheme, setting them apart from the rest of the campaign. This deliberate design choice emphasized the importance of the ANCE series.

    • Diverse Insights: Topics ranged from ANCE’s core mission of reducing inequalities to personal reflections on addressing GBV effectively.

This series underscored the role of individuals and organizations in fostering a culture of equality and safety.

Fostering Collaboration and Expanding Networks

With our work, we aimed to underscore the value of collaboration in tackling complex societal challenges and highlight the importance of expanding networks to share knowledge, resources, and support. Partnering with Women On Top, GenderSAFE, and ANCE enabled us to amplify diverse voices, engage broader audiences, and create content that resonated deeply with our community.

We are committed to fostering collaboration, building connections, and inspiring action to create a safer, more inclusive world.
