Design Thinking
Mentality. Mindset. Method.
What is Design Thinking?
Design Thinking is a user-centric approach that fosters innovation in problem-solving of so-called non-defined or wicked problems.
We leverage this methodology to deliver tailor-made solutions that truly resonate with your audience.
Non-defined problems? What even are they?
Let’s begin with the easier case: well-defined or tame problems. These are issues with clear parameters that can be resolved by applying established rules or technical expertise.
But let’s face it—life isn’t that simple. Most of the time, we’re confronted with non-defined problems, the kind that don’t come with clear solutions.
These challenges often tempt us to rely on instinct or mislabel them as well-defined, applying rules or technical fixes that inevitably fall short.
This is where Design Thinking steps in, providing a structured yet flexible approach to embrace complexity and deliver meaningful solutions.
Features of non-defined problems
-
Each non-defined problem is inherently novel and unique. That’s what makes it so fun!
-
Solutions to non-defined problems cannot be deemed right or wrong. They're merely better or worse. It’s not a black and white world after all…
-
Non-defined problems lack a stopping rule, i.e., there is no time point where the problem can be considered as definitely solved. A good solution is but a temporary, delicate balance of a plethora of counteracting forces.
-
As if all that wasn’t enough, problems do not have predetermined alternative solutions. This is why every solution is kind of a “one shot, one opportunity” type of situation.
-
Finally, the problem is truly understood only after devising a solution. That’s wicked indeed!
